Location: Unilever HTY Factory
Main Purpose of the Job
The Engineering Ancillary is an unskilled role that provides general support to single-skill and multi-skill engineers.  Support requirements vary, but are likely to include the movement of equipment, the preparation of tools and the reading of basic measurements when directed by the lead Engineering Technician.
Main Accountabilities
Safety - 
  • Knowledge and understanding of national Safety and Environmental legislation and company policy, systems and practice relevant to Sourcing Unit and the legal responsibility placed upon individuals.  Ensure that procedures and practice adhere to safety policy and legislation. Understanding the fundamental food safety knowledge.
Operational Activities – 
  • Mainly Support to the plants electricity, diesel generator, compressed air, hot water, soft water, cool water and chiller which are essential for the whole factory smoothly operate. 
  • To product environmental, perform the wastewater management (treatment the wastewater to PH 6.5_PH 7.5) (BOD , COD with target Range)
  • Regular drill for firefighting system, which include regular check fire hose, fire piping and fire engine.   
  • The purpose of cost management, daily records (water flow meters and electric metering units) for the whole factory are essential. 
  • AM and PM activities, must record regular checklists ( air compressor, water treatment plant, boiler, generator plant, chiller and wastewater treatment.)
  • Manage the utility spare parts. Handling the factory supply such as diesel and chemical usage.
  • Operate and monitors UPS , solar plants and focus improvement of plant.
  • Lead the projects which is the purpose for operation improvement and cost saving.
Workplace Hazards
  • Full knowledge of workplace and hazards within it.  Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the tasks in your area.
  • Environment – Under direct guidance the Engineer Ancillary will avoid wasteful and costly practices in order to minimize impact to health, safety and the environment through working.  Waste and hazardous material is to be handled according to company procedures.
Teamwork – 
  • Must be a good team player capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and capable of basic team communication.
  • Physical Ability – Engineer Ancillaries require a level of agility to move equipment between workstations, ascend and descend steps often carrying loads.  
  • Continuous Improvement – A Basic Awareness of the key principles of WCM and the impact this has on the Key Performance Indicators in the production area is valuable.  This provides the context to his support of Engineering technicians within the areas of Autonomous Maintenance and Focused Improvement.  A Basic awareness of these methodologies is valuable.
  • Problem Solving – A Basic Awareness of how to identify, prioritise and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence.  It is important that the Engineer Ancillary can identify an issue and quickly communicate it to a local leader. 
Key Skills
  • Core Engineering Skills – Manufacturing experience 
  • Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.
  • Strong coaching and communication skills.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Must be flexible within pattern of shift work  to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc. Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company is desirable but not essential.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree with Engineering 
  • Minimum 3-5 yrs working experience with FMCG preferred.
