Main Job Purpose:
• Expand and innovate the technologies including processing routes to maximise SC throughputs and enable implementation of innovation / renovation program.
• Investigate new raw material and processing techniques to ensure, recent market innovations, as well as science and technology developments are delivered to support business continuity and growth.
• Contribute building processing capability in the region.
• The candidate will be also responsible for:
o Designing and upscaling technical processes to enable the implementation of innovation, value improvement and supply chain investment projects – including quality control points and process parameters to enable world class consumer quality and safety.
o Partnering SC in resolving manufacturing and quality issues.
o Development of regional processing capabilities under dedicated category manufacturing technologies and formats, and execute effective approaches to specifications, recommendations, technology transfer, trials, pilot plant practices, project execution, in line with Unilever standards.
o Work in laboratory and category pilot plant to design and generate product prototypes and samples for consumer use.
o Execute category pilot plant capital investment plans, resource deployment and safety of the site.
o Deliver OTIF Process Development for launch and roll-out of Regional Process innovation and VIP programs.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Implementation of product innovation/renovation and technologies via operational projects:
• Design cost efficient and quality ensuring processing routes and sequences, interacting with broader R&D team in product development laboratories and pilot plant.
• Up-scale, risk assess and implement production processes in Unilever sourcing units and network of third parties in the region.
• Assess and establish partnerships with suppliers of technologies or services depending on project needs.
• Prepare and review engineering documents (Process Specifications, P&IDs, General arrangements, Equipment specs).
• Develop and implement cost savings ideas to drive for factory efficiency and gross margin improvement.
• Plan and complete representative feasibility and capability trials during the project approval phase.
• Provide input on capital equipment needed to be implemented to meet processing capability.
2. Supply Chain, Quality Support and Simplification:
• To provide process support and technical expertise to sourcing units to aid in the resolution of manufacturing and quality issues.
• Contribute to quality improvement projects to resolve consumer complaints issues.
• Ensure regional implementation of category best practice manufacturing, core designs and equipment to enable supply chain harmonization.
• Actively support regional Supply Chain teams with inputs from Global Development Centre.
3. Process development excellence and capability building:
• Ensure pilot plant designs are consistent with category recommendations and are scalable within the region.
• Monitor process engineering field for improvements in designs, technologies, etc. globally.
• Contribute to Processing Digital transformation program to improve efficiency in Process development activities.
• Explore opportunities of Product Story,New Sensory and Claim from Processing.
• Demonstrate and promote good understanding of hair and skin care product formulations and the resultant impact on processing and equipment requirements.
